New And Improved Netrust Security Proxy 1.3

The latest Netrust Security Proxy (NSP) 1.3 is now available for download! More user-friendly features have been introduced. For those interested in reading about it first, we have a quick summary of the new features here. If not, just head straight to 'Software Download' to download the software.

#1: Auto-Configuration NSP and Browser HTTP Settings [Back To Top]
NSP installs like a breeze now. The HTTP proxy settings for both NSP and browser are handled automatically upon installation. There is no need to manually set the browser's HTTP settings anymore. (This is supported for IE 3-4 and Netscape 3-4.05).

TIP: Exit from your browser first, make sure that NSP 1.3 is already installed and re-start your PC to enable this feature.


#2: NSP Icon On Windows Task Bar [Back To Top]
Upon start-up, NSP now sits unobtrusively as a Netrust icon in the Windows task bar. This icon changes from blue to green during a secured transaction. Watch for it!

TIP: This icon has additional functions. A 'right' mouse click will maximise NSP and a 'left' mouse click will give you direct access to the Netrust Ready showcase.


#3: More Smartcard Readers Supported [Back To Top]
We have included support for more readers. You can make use of any of these readers with NSP 1.3:

TIP: For the latest list please refer to our Netrust Ready showcase. For a shortcut to this page, do a 'left' mouse click on the NSP Icon. Do note that installation of native drivers are required for some readers.


#4: Easy Swapping Of Smartcard Readers [Back To Top]
This feature allows for a quick one-stop smartcard reader driver configuration. With this, you can easily configure NSP for use with these smartcard readers:

- ADC E-Key
- AutoStar CHIPDRIVE Micro
- Innolab CardStation
- CISCO CPR300P

You will not need to configure the reader drivers for:
- ActivCard SmartReader
- Gemplus SmartXcess
- SCM SwapSmart RS232
- SCM SwapSmart (PCMCIA/PC Card)

TIP: To use this feature,
- 'Exit' from NSP and connect the reader that you want to use to your PC.
- If your reader comes with additional drivers, install them first.
- Click on 'Start' in the Windows task bar.
- Select 'Programs', 'Netrust Security Proxy 1.3' and 'Use ... smartcard reader'.
- A message similar to "... smartcard reader configured" will be displayed.


#5: Certificate Generation Facilities [Back To Top]
NSP 1.3 comes packaged with a full digital certificate generation software so there is no need to download additional software.

TIP: You will only need to generate your digital certificate once. You need not do this if have already done so at your Registration Authority. To check, try doing a 'login' with NSP 1.3 (Make sure you are connected to the Internet).


#6: Saving Of Digitally Signed Records [Back To Top]
To track your digitally signed transactions, you can save files which have been digitally signed by a secured server. Upon selecting this option, signed requests are automatically saved to your PC in directory C:\WINDOWS \TEMP\.

TIP: To activate this feature, select 'Options' in the NSP menu and followed by 'Preferences'. Check the 'Save signed files' box.


#7: CashCard Transaction Friendly [Back To Top]
Ever wanted to check the details of the latest 'blip' when your car went under the gantry? Make use of the 'View CashCard/ERP Log' under 'Help' in the NSP menu! NSP will display your CashCard balance, CashCard transactions and ERP History on your browser. (This is available for smartcard readers that support CashCard only i.e. AutoStar CHIPDRIVE Micro, ADC Drive Bay, ADC E-Key LC, ADC E-Key PR, CISCO CPR 300P and Innolab CardStation).

TIP: Make use of the 'Print' function in your browser to print out a record of your CashCard transactions.


#8: Check For Software Updates [Back To Top]
For those who like to keep abreast with the latest updates on NSP, a 'Netrust Software Update' feature is available under 'Help' in the NSP menu. This feature enables you to check if your NSP is the latest version. You can subsequently proceed to the 'Software Download Page' to download the latest version of NSP.
