Netrust Goes Global With New Export License (16 Jun 1999)

Netrust Pte Ltd , South Asia's first Certification Authority (CA) can now issue digital certificates supporting strong 128-bit encryption to any user worldwide. This approval was granted in a renewed export license for Netrust's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) by the US Department of Commerce earlier this year.

The new export license expands on the previously approved countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia and the US.

All existing and upcoming Netrust-Ready services can now extend the high-level of confidence, trust and security of Netrust Digital Certificates to clients in practically all countries worldwide. Netrust Digital Certificates come with strong 1024-bit public keys and can support up to 128-bit key strength for symmetric keys.

Eligible applicants include service providers that fall under the categories of:
- Online merchants engaged in sales of goods or services;
- Banking and Financial Services;
- Insurance Services;
- Health and Medical Services.

Countries classified by the US government as terrorists countries are not included in the list of approved countries. The current list of terrorist countries include: Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.
