MINDEF Launches Internet Trading System Using Netrust (17 Apr 1998)

Congratulations to Ministry of Defence, Singapore on the successful launch of their MINDEF Internet Procurement System (MIPS), the latest innovative application to join our rapidly growing Netrust-Ready Showcase. MIPS, jointly developed by Defence Procurement Division (DPD) and Systems & Computer Organisation (SCO), the IT arm of MINDEF, is one of the first digital certificate based, business-to-business application system.

The system will allow the Defence Procurement Division (DPD) to call for quotes, receive bids, and receive invoices electronically. This will help cut down on the time and resources for both DPD and the suppliers in the whole purchasing process.

To get started, participating suppliers would require a Netrust Digital Certificate. The Netrust infrastructure provides the essential authentication and digital signing capabilities to the system.
